Continuing Nosework Class Started today--January 9, 2011

The 3rd level class in the K9 Nosework class series, Continuing Nosework Class, started today.  Chloe had to find the odor only (Birchwood scent) in boxes and her first car search.  She did great!

Intro to Odor Work: the next urban sport for dogs

The next group class Miss Chloe will be attending this Fall is Intro to Odor Work, beginning Sunday, October 11.  It's the next class in the K9 Nosework class series.  All dogs are taught to identify the first target odor, an essential oil, and we continue to build a better dog/handler team.  We can't wait to find out what the oil is!  Stay tuned...

K9 Nose Work Class - Week 4

The environment changed again and Chloe continued to excel.  Today we moved the scent work exercises to the outdoors with wind and other nature scents making it more difficult.  We signed up for the next level, Intro to Odor, coming soon in October 2010.

K9 Nose Work Class - Week 2

Chloe has developed a positive association with the building where the class is being held.  In week 2, the instructor is making the scent game more difficult by changing the scene of the environment.  Chloe's nose did not fail her and she was again successful.  Week 3 of the class is scheduled for Sunday, August 1st.

K9 Nose Work Class

We started the K9 Nose Work class on Sunday afternoon and it was purely entertaining to watch Chloe sniff and find the bait. Finally, a game Mom doesn't have to work so hard physically to participate in like the Agility For Fun class we took a few years ago. I had to sprint from one obstacle to another! I felt like I was in boot camp! In the K9 Nose Work class, Chloe does all the work, mainly, her lovely-dudley canine nose and it's 200 million receptors. Her high energy, motivation to find and speed is working to her advantage. We can't wait to see her progress at the next class.
